COMMONWEALTH (released Sept. 9) is rivaling The Len Price 3’s NOBODY KNOWS (released Feb. 3) as being my most played album of the year.  “Take It Easy” is the third song I’ve featured on this blog.

Purling Hiss

The Philly power pop trio led by Mike Polizze (Birds of Maya) released its fifth album.  It’s called WEIRDON (came out Sept. 23).  “Where’s Sweetboy” is my favorite off the LP.  Unfortunately, there isn’t a video or stream of that song to present here.  Instead, a second fave – “Six Ways to Sunday.”

Hamilton Leithauser

Leithauser (Walkmen) released his debut solo LP, BLACK HOURS, on June 3.  This blog has already featured four songs from it.  Here is a fifth.  It’s a new video for the lead track, “5 AM.”

Arts & Leisure

The founding members of this Sacramento band were previously in a group called Baby Grand, which released an album in 2012 called Arts & Leisure.  Naming their new group after that album title, Arts & Leisure released a very good debut debut album, called CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE (out July 9, 2013).  The follow-up is a new single called “Weekend” b/w “Over You” (released today).
